On January 29th, 2026, I emailed Sarah Edwards, Calaveras County Counsel, and Ben Stopper, Calaveras County District 5 Supervisor and 2026 Board of Supervisors Chair, lodging a formal complaint concerning Mr. Stopper’s capricious enforcement of established rules and procedures for public comments.

The infraction occurred on January 27th, 2026, during the Board of Supervisors regular meeting, when he allowed an individual three minutes and twenty-two seconds of uninterrupted speaking time; later depriving me of equal time by interrupting the final words of my summation precisely at three minutes.

Ms. Edwards, a “cure and correct” response from the county is not optional, it is mandatory.

Shifting now to Mr. Huberty.

In retrospect, it is not looking as though it was a good long-term strategy for you to have overplayed your connection to the British royal family – basking in Sarah Ferguson’s reflected glory.

No more reflected royal glory for you – just the wreckage of your five-decade association with Sarah Ferguson amid the collapse of her image and her brand – with disturbing new revelations last week detailing previously unknown aspects of her long association with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

How long did you consider it would take before I sleuthed out the unredacted, smoking gun email thread connecting you to Jeffrey Epstein from the latest U.S. Department of Justice file dump … or had you even considered that?

You know the email thread I’m referring to – from June 23rd, 2009 – with you, as Sarah Ferguson’s direct intermediary and emissary, initiating correspondence with Jeffrey Epstein’s direct intermediary and emissary, his longtime executive assistant, Lesley Groff.

Do you now feel any unease or remorse for having initiated correspondence with the convicted pedophile’s executive assistant on behalf of “the Duchess,” seeking to facilitate a same-day meeting between “the Duchess” and Jeffrey Epstein during his work release hours while he was serving his jail sentence for a sex crime against a minor?

When you emailed a “quick note” to Lesley Groff, on June 23rd, 2009, on behalf of “the Duchess,” asking “...if Jeffery [sic] would be available to talk to the Duchess today,” you surely would have known that Jeffrey Epstein was a convicted sex offender serving a jail sentence in Florida for a child sex offense following his plea deal in 2008 for soliciting a minor for prostitution.

Did you accompany Sarah Ferguson to Jeffrey Epstein’s office on more than one occasion – or on just one occasion – during which time you ‘believe you met’ his longtime executive assistant, Lesley Groff, in person?

Did you and Sarah Ferguson meet with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein at his office while he was on daily work release from jail, or was it prior to him reporting to jail on June 30th, 2008 for his sex crime against a minor?

I am grateful to the Union-Democrat editor for providing Mr. Martin Huberty with a published forum last Friday (February 20, 2026) pertaining to the disturbing disclosure of Mr. Huberty’s name appearing in the Epstein files.

Mr. Huberty approached the press opportunity as one of crisis communication and spin doctoring, rather than of authenticity and contrition.

Mr. Huberty’s defensive public response in the Union-Democrat – to his self-inflicted ‘Epstein emails’ controversy – may now draw other members of Calaveras County’s administrative and law enforcement leadership into what has become a widening international investigation, scandal and reputational damage.

Here’s why.

Mr. Huberty is quoted in the February 20, 2026 article, as follows: 

“When I found out I was in the files, I let ‘all the powers that be’ know that this was the case, and nobody had an issue with it, nor should they,” he said. “If anybody does have an issue, I ask them to call me directly, and I can explain whatever it is that they want to know and answer whatever questions they have.”

Mr. Huberty has been elusive regarding the facts and the true nature of his relationship with Sarah Ferguson.

My analysis of the emails in which Mr. Huberty appears – factoring in other historical data – produced findings suggesting a more willful and intentional involvement in Ms. Ferguson’s tangled personal and financial affairs than the analysis provided by the Union-Democrat.

Mr. Huberty appears to have been intimately involved in the management and promotion of Sarah Ferguson's financial and business affairs during – and following – Jeffrey Epstein’s imprisonment for committing a sex offense against a minor, including Mr. Huberty having initiated outreach to Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime executive assistant Lesley Groff to arrange a same-day meeting in June 2009 between Sarah Ferguson and Jeffrey Epstein while Mr. Epstein was serving his jail sentence.

Therefore, yesterday, in response to Mr. Huberty’s statement about him having informed “all the powers that be,” I filed two California Public Records Act requests.

The first was for the release of any and all internal government communications of any type, and the second was for all public-facing announcements and press releases – inclusive of date of media distribution – indicating acknowledgement by the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors, CEO, County Counsel, District Attorney, and Sheriff, e.g., “all the powers that be,” that they… 

1. ONE) confirm receipt of notice from Mr. Martin Huberty of his name appearing in the Epstein files, and…
2. TWO) that “nobody had an issue with it.”

Mr. Huberty, you exhibit a profound lack of judgement and self-awareness concerning your name appearing multiple times in the Epstein files, and of how your connection to Jeffrey Epstein is being perceived.

Having represented the business interests of the now disgraced Sarah Ferguson, you are either the sender, direct recipient, or copied in multiple emails and threads between yourself, Jeffrey Epstein, Sarah Ferguson, and numerous Epstein associates.

Your direct participation in Sarah Ferguson’s persistent financial dependency upon Jeffrey Epstein is evident to interested and astute readers of those emails.

The material fact of your willful participation while Jeffrey Epstein was serving a prison sentence for a sex crime against a child, and soon afterward, is reprehensible.

The manner by which your appearance in those emails may be regarded was exacerbated by your deceptive February 20, 2026 Union Democrat interview, where you were quoted, “When I found out I was in the files, I let all the powers that be know that this was the case, and nobody had an issue with it, nor should they…” 

Responding to my February 23, 2026 Public Records Act request for your disclosures to members of the Calaveras County government of your appearance in the Epstein files,” County Counsel Edwards responded that “...following a reasonable search, the County has not located any documents responsive to my request.”

I challenge your assertion of informing “all the powers that be” of your multiple appearances in the Epstein files, and allege you intentionally provided deceptive statements to The Union Democrat.

As no physical or digital trail of your disclosures were found following a reasonable search for responsive records by Ms. Edwards, it appears that you gave no consideration to protecting the Calaveras government from scrutiny, nor the reputations of your colleagues who must now officially go on record confirming they had no issue with your appearance in the Epstein files.

Mr. Huberty, with no responsive records located by County Counsel, it is fair to deduce that whatever disclosures made to your colleagues of your inappropriate appearance in the Epstein files were exclusively verbal.

It would be imprudent of you to withhold from the public record the names that constitute your “all of the powers that be” list, that I deduce consists of, at minimum, Sarah Edwards, Teresa Hitchcock, Ben Stopper, Gary Tofanelli, Amanda Folendorf, Autumn Andahl, Judy Hawkins, Sheriff Rachelle Whiting, and DA Barbara Yook, all of whom must now respond to my allegation of your intentional deception.

County Counsel must now create and distribute an official press release confirming or denying your statement that nobody on your “all the powers that be” list “had an issue with it, nor should they.”

Be assured, Mr. Huberty, I’ll accept nothing less.
